Department of Posts has tied
up with Reliance Money Limited for the sale of Gold Coins through
selected Post Offices. The scheme was introduced at 103 post
offices in Delhi, Maharashtra, Gujarat and Tamilnadu Postal Circles on
15.10.2008.
Reliance Money Limited supplies
Gold coins of denominations - 0.5gram, 1 gram, 5 grams, 8 grams, 10
grams, 20 grams and 50 grams of
24 carat (99.99% pure) to all the listed post offices. These
gold coins bear the logo of India Post. The
sale of gold coins is carried out through its web-based Gold Inventory
Software. The coins are packed in a sealed cover with certification from
Valcambi, Switzerland which has low risk of duplication.
In Tamilnadu, Gold Coins are
sold at 235 Post Offices. The regionwise list of offices is shown in the
following table:
On the occasion of Akshaya Tritiya on 13.05.13 and Pushya Nakshatra on 15.05.13 & 16.05.13, customers purchasing gold coins at POs will
be eligible for a special discount of 7.5%.
As part of the Akshaya Tritiya Campaign, all the customers purchasing gold coins at POs will
be eligible for a special discount of 7.0%. This special discount
will be applicable during the period from 20.04.2013 to 30.06.2013.
