Department of Posts has tied
up with Reliance Money Limited for the sale of Gold Coins through
selected Post Offices. The scheme was introduced at 103 post
offices in Delhi, Maharashtra, Gujarat and Tamilnadu Postal Circles on
15.10.2008.
Reliance Money Limited supplies
Gold coins of denominations - 0.5gram, 1 gram, 5 grams and 8 grams of
24 carat (99.99% pure) to all the listed post offices. These
gold coins bear the logo of India Post. The
sale of gold coins is carried out through its web-based Gold Inventory
Software. The coins are packed in a sealed cover with certification from
Valcambi, Switzerland which has low risk of duplication.
In Tamilnadu, Gold Coins are
sold at 189 Post Offices. The regionwise list of offices is shown in the
following table:
A special campaign has been
organized by Reliance Money Infrastructure Limited for the sale of gold coins at POs. From
02.11.11 onwards, following discount structure is offered to all the
customers who purchase gold coins at Post Offices.
